quote

"we dont make mistakes just happy little accidents" Bob ross this has tought me a lot about my project i dont work from real life so whos to say what is a mistake. i have come to realize that i dont always no how i want my work to turn out however i have a clear idea of what i dont want it to be. its the unplanned happy little accidents that keeps the work fresh and spontaneous which is very important in this project. to me over thinking and planning diminishes pure imagination and limits creativity.

surrealism

surrealism is all about the subconscious and imagination, its about dream like imagery and perception. surrealism plays a huge part in developing my work as i tend to work from my imaginations or dreams as i feel this is where you find a true expression of yourself in a unique way its very important to my project that you get a sense or surreal individuality and dream like narrative in my work and just like in surrealism there is a bold expression i feel i convey this in a modern way.

quote

"surrealism is destructive but it only destroys what it considers to be shackles limiting our vision" saladore dali Dali was a surrealist painter whos work i admire this quote in particular i feel applys directly to my work in my current project. i aim to create something unique and fantastical and to do that you have to break down the barriers of reality and not be confined by it only then can you discoverer something new. my project would not be successful if i was shackled by reality.

choi xooang

choi xooang works with the body in a very unusual way i feel she explores unique ideas her work and creating them larger they capture you attention instantly she has made me realize the importance of size and how it can affect the overall feel of a piece. she has helped me develop my work in 3D as i have learned through looking at her work that the way in wich you position something will evoke a sort of expression and can have an affect on how you read the work.

henry rousseau

Image
henry rousseau's work and the niieve way in which he paints contributes to my thought process when i paint he developed my understanding of the way one paints in that sometimes imperfections add to the character of the piece. the way he uses they space and has things interacting brings his work to life i shall try and execute this in my work in order to breath life in to the paining just like rousseau does.

banksy

Image
banksy is a street artist and has influenced my work through his color schemes which consist of mainly black stencil outline and only a few striking bright colors on a particular aspect of the painting. he has helped me develop my work by making me realize the importance of color placement and that i dont have to relay on lots of colors to make a piece stand out, that one or two can be just as if not more striking. he also made me realize i dont need a canvas to paint

noel fielding

Image
noel fielding is an artist i in particular take inspiration from his informed  use of color and bold outlines create very eye catching paintings. i try to do the same in my artwork by using complimentary colors with a bold outline however i tend to use a little less color than he does. his imagery i find very inspiring as it is completely unique which is something i strive for in my work. his paintings seem to all have a lose narrative which is something i would like to try depict in my work.
